Alexandra Peel was born in Hampshire, England in 2001. She began learning the violin aged six and at the young age of nine had already successfully auditioned for places at both the Royal College of Music Junior Department and the Purcell School for Young Musicians in Bushey, Hertfordshire. On beginning her studies at the School, under the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme, she studied with Carmel Kaine until 2013; subsequently Alda Dizdari and currently with Nathaniel Vallois since 2016.

At age twelve, she performed at Raymond Weil’s Pre-Event for Classic FM Live at the Royal Albert Hall during Miloš Karadaglić‘s sold-out Blackbird Tour and at thirteen, won the 2014 Purcell School Junior String Prize, recognising her as the most outstanding string player in the Lower School that year. In 2015, she performed with the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London under the baton of Karina Canellakis, and subsequently at venues such as the Conway Hall, Cadogan Hall, and Watford Colosseum on numerous occasions.

In 2018, aged 16, she participated in a Chamber Masterclass with Levon Chilingirian, and in the October of that year won second prize at the Windsor and Maidenhead Young Musician of the Year, leading to a solo recital at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in collaboration with the Maidenhead Music Society in January 2019. Later that month she also performed a solo recital at Milton Court Concert Hall in London as part of the Purcell School’s Senior Showcase Recitals.

In addition, this year she has been fortunate enough to participate in a masterclass given by Alina Ibragimova and performed with her piano quintet at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. Alexandra also studies piano and voice at the school with Deborah Shah and Jill Washington respectively. At thirteen, she won the School’s Second Study Piano Prize, the following year gaining a distinction at Grade 8, and in Spring 2019 received a high distinction in her Piano Diploma. Alongside her musical studies, she also enjoys writing, photography and studies musical theatre at the Guildford School of Acting Saturday School.
