With Julian Trevelyan (piano); Winner of the prestigious Long-Thibaud international piano competition, 2015
Amadeus celebrates Mozart’s birthday with a performance of his superb piano concerto in C minor, played by local rising star pianist and multi-award winner Julian Trevelyan. Also on the programme is Haydn’s 104th and last symphony, known as the London - bright, upbeat and tuneful. Hungarian composer Bela Bartok appreciated a good tune too, and his Romanian folk dances feature six catchy melodies scored for small orchestra. The programme opens with an overture by master of classical melody, Franz Schubert, composed when he was just 20. The conductor this evening is yet another young musician with a string of achievements to his name - Joel Sandelson.
Schubert ~ Overture in the Italian Style
Mozart ~ Piano Concerto no. 24 in C minor K.491
Bartok ~ Rumanian folk dances
Haydn ~ Symphony no. 104 ‘London’
